Ikea stocking fillers in aid of Save the Children & UNICEF

19 Dec

IKEA are back again with their annual Soft Toy Campaign! For every soft toy and children’s book sold between October 21st and December 23rd 2012 the IKEA Foundation will donate €1 to UNICEF and Save the Children, to support worldwide education programs, ensuring more children around the world can go to school. This yearly campaign has so far raised a total of €47.4 million since 2003 and has helped improve the lives of more than eight million vulnerable children.

I’m writing today to share a couple of the items included in this years campaign, and what with it being under a week till christmas and the final week of the campaign, I urge you to get yourselves down to Ikea to take advantage of the brilliant, reasonably priced toys while raising much needed funds for UNICEF & Save the Children.

The two items we were sent came from the KLAPPAR CIRUS range of toys. This range is bold, bright, and reasonably priced, all the things I like in a soft toy.

We reviewed the KLAPPER CIRKUS Finger puppets that can be brought for just £4.99.

This is a fabulous stocking filler, a traditional toy that reminds me of those you purchase at Christmas markets. The puppet stand is made from brightly coloured card so not the most durable but all the little finger puppets are beautifully stitched felt with lovely detailing and considering there are eight of them, a fiver seems little money to pay for this set. These puppets are bright and fun and the toddler absolutely adores them.

We were also sent KLAPPAR CIRUS – Soft Toy Rabbit which cost just £4 to buy.

This super soft white bunny is ultra cuddly. His of a nice size and good quality. I love his floppy ears and long whiskers. What gives him that something extra is this bunnies sense of style. He looks dashing in his purple glittery jacket and top hat and reminds me somewhat of the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

Again the toddler loves this toy and the white rabbit has now become a permeant fixture to the end of his bed.

For £4 the soft white rabbit makes a lovely Christmas gift for very little money.

Other toys in the ikea soft bear campaign include soft toys and books for as little as £1.

Here’s a few other ideas for those Christmas stockings.

VANDRING IGELKOTT – Squeaky toy hedgehog £2

VANDRING – Book ‘The Hedgehog Leaves Home’ £5

I love this statement made by Ikea! It really sums up what the campaigns about and while you should pop along and buy your child a soft toy from them this Christmas…

“At IKEA, we believe all children deserve the right to simply be children – free to play, learn and develop, that’s why we work hard to give millions of children a better start in life. By buying a Soft Toy from IKEA this Christmas, not only are you giving to your child, but also to millions of underprivileged children around the world.”

I was not paid to write this post but did receive two toy samples so that we could share our honest feedback on these products. All words are my own and have not been Influence in any way.

With this in mind a friends son, who I must add is a massive… fan of Ben 10 was more than happy to give it the once over (his mother tells me that’s the wrong term to use as his watched it more times than she cares to remember).

I asked this Ben 10 fan who’s name is Luke, what he thought of the film and he gave me the full low down adding that It’s his favourite Ben 10 film (and trust me he has loads).

The DVD was released during October and has been brought to our shelves by Warner Home Video with a RRP of £9.99.

 HERE’S A LITTLE TASTER

Aggregor has absorbed the five aliens’ powers and is putting his evil plan into action.  Now Ben, Kevin and Gwen must stop the newly-transformed and extremely dangerous menace from attaining the Map of Infinity. The team travel to a water planet, an artificial puzzle-planetoid, and to a hostile magical dimension. Can former foes become allies in the quest to stop Aggregor?

Win a copy of the new Lego Hero Factory on DVD

10 Nov

As mentioned, Little man is starting to become a little Lego nuts, which I guess gives us a little time off from the whole topic of buses (through his one true love of buses will never change, I’m sure).

Little man was recently given the chance to get his mitts on the all new DVD Lego Hero Factory, and not only this, we were also offered an extra copy to give away in a competition to one of our lovely readers.

This DVD which would defiantly make a great stocking filler and has already been enjoyed over and over again in our house.

The DVD was officially released by Warner home video on the 24th October and is packed with heroic missions and adventures. Plus the new release also includes a 22 minute  bonus featurette entitled Lego Atlantic.

THE PLOT

Alpha team leader Stormer is the best and toughest Hero at the Hero Factory. But years ago, when he was still just a Rookie, he was sent on a dangerous mission. Their leader was wounded and it was up to Stormer and his fellow Rookie, Von Ness, to save the city. But Von Ness deserted him, and Stormer was forced to go into battle alone. He succeeded that day, just like he has on every mission since then, but he still carries around the feeling that something is left unfinished.

Today, a new Rookie team has been assigned to complete their training with Stormer and his crew. As the Heroes begin to work together on their missions, they start to realise that the bad guys they are fighting are working for someone. Someone from Stormer’s past, with an evil agenda to take down the Hero Factory and Stormer himself!

Bling for Scooters

26 Oct

For all you scooter goers

Now it’s the turn of the Scoobits, fashion accessories to bling out your scooter.

If your child has a scooter then please guys get in the know and make sure there’s one or two of these in your kids stocking

If you don’t listen to my warning you can expect a big fat, I told you so from me on Christmas morning!

Scootbits are now available in a range of new bright bold colours that really will bring about some scooter envy! The best thing is these can be added to just about any scooter and even bikes if you prefer.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

They simply look great and with so many designs to choose from you’ll want them all!

We have decided to buy Harley a Mini Micro for his Birthday in December after receiving a catalogue displaying all the fantastic neon colours and wonderful accessories, and amongst them accessories were some fab new scoobits that are suited to all ages.

I can’t wait to get his Mini Micro and bling it out with super brightly coloured scoobits so he can ride besides his big brother.

The scoobit we were sent for Little man is a fab red/orange colour with a bright green croc which I must admit looks super on the neon Green Maxi.

I’m discovering that I’ve got a bit of a thing for these brightly coloured gadgets and it’s not just the actual scooters but the bling you can dress them up with. I love the ribbons, bags, and of course the scoobits.

With each scoobit you get some brightly coloured stickers you can add to you scooter too.

What’s even better is again the scoobit has that collectors appeal that like little man many children on the autism spectrum seem to love engaging in.

Priced at from £3.99 we love them and I’ll be buying scoobits for both Little man’s and Little Harley’s stockings… Oh and I may even get a few for Alice-Sara’s bike

So it’s official, Scoobits are super-duper cool, & it’s not just the kids that think so!

You can design your own Scoobit and win Click HERE
