BecoPotty The Little Eco Potty

3 Feb

As our babies transform from baby to toddler, with it comes a whole new host of challenges, one being “Potty training”

Little man aka “A boy with Aspergers who is now 11- years-old was by far the easiest to train, mainly due to the fact he suffers from sensory processing difficulties and therefore hated the feeling of being wet, hence the reason he was out of nappies as soon as he hit two! My daughter Alice-Sara now 9-years old took a little longer but was clean out of nappies by the age of 3. Now it was the turn of Harley, my youngest little duckling, a toddler in training so to speak.

We noticed that Harley took a slight interest in the potty aged around 18 ms though it was some time before we saw any potty action.

BecoThings heard about our mission to potty train Harley and contacted me via email to offer a review of the all new improved BecoPotty. This is a 100% biodegradable potty, meaning once our mission was complete we could use it to plant some pretty flowers in the garden and this environmentally friendly potty would disappear over time, meaning we would be doing a great thing for our planet.

With the mission to get rid of the nappies and get Harley in his cute bob the builder pants, sometime following his 2nd birthday, I agreed and awaited the delivery of this earth friendly potty.

BecoThings, informed us that they only had stock of the Pink potty and given I’m not the kind of mother who believes that pink is strictly for girls and blue is for boys I didn’t give a hoot and nether did Harley.

We decided to take the potty to Butlins when we went to the tots100 Christmas Party, sadly, the only potty action we saw was when big sister decided she needed to be sick and it came up tops as a sick bucket.

We celebrated the Little guys birthday on the 11th December 2011, still nothing! However as the fireworks marked a new year come the 1st January 2012, my Little Harley created his own fireworks at ours as he took to the potty and graced it with pee-pee for the very first time. This mummy was so made up I even sang the potty song… you know the one… from, “Look who’s talking” that adorable film from the 90’s!

Since then his been peeing in his “Pink Becopotty” on a daily basis! There is yet to be a number 2 (but hey one step at a time)! His still not in his Bob the builder underwear but is wearing pull ups. Oh and his actually standing over the potty to take a pee, like a real little man bless him, hence the reason I decided not to shoot the action!

So, was it down to the BecoPotty? Who knows! Nonetheless the BecoPotty is a great little pot, well made and the fact it’s environmentally friendly is an awesome little touch to this well made little earth friendly Eco potty.

Natural and Clean the green way to clean your home

21 Nov

I was recently asked to review some products from the ‘Natural and Clean‘ range, Of course I said, “Please, bring them on” Why wouldn’t I? As much as I hate to clean, I still find myself engaging in such a task, what with three children and two kittens, I don’t have a choice!

Natural and Clean are UK specialist that sell a selection of  home, travel and pet cleaning essentials that are all 100% natural, no nasty chemicals to contend with and environmentally friendly!

The lovely people at ‘Natural and Clean’ sent me a great selection of their products to put to the test, these were…

100% Natural Cat Litter

This Litter is 100% Biodegradable and consists of 100% waste vegetable matter from only sustainable sources. The patented odour control formulation removes the smell of cat urine permanently and with this clumping formula, you need only remove the waste clumps. A 6 litre bag will last 1 cat approximately 4 weeks and can absorb 300% of its weight in liquid and this lightweight formulation makes it even easier to carry!

My thoughts… It all sounds fabulous, I received the litter (which was as light as a feather) and started using it straight away. However all was not fabulous for these two naughty kittens, as they went a toilet everywhere but the litter. The kittens just wouldn’t go near the stuff and I only noticed having discovered a puddle of pee smack bang on the middle of the living room floor. I persisted, yet no matter what, the Kittens just wouldn’t use the litter. I think this may have been due to the fact it was so… different to what we were using before! Sadly my kittens had got a bit used to the cheap crap ( kittens are not cheap to keep so I had been using the cheap rubbish that is super heavy to carry, for far to long) I only wished my kittens had taken to this litter and maybe I should have tried mixing it with the rubbish I’ve been using. If this does what it claims to do then it will be an excellent product! Sadly I can’t comment and only wished I could give more useful feedback. £6.65 would seem a high price for cat litter, but if it does last the length of time it claims, then it’s actually no more expensive than any other litter as the cheaper brands tend to last no more than a week!

Whoops a-daisy

The fine crystals of Natural & Clean Whoops a-daisy! Convert liquid spillage’s into gel, making them easy to control and remove. Whoops a-daisy! is non-toxic, biodegradable and safe to use around both children and animals. It can be used on any carpet, hard flooring, upholstery, bedding or clothing.

My thoughts… I’m a massive Whoops a-daisy fan, I’m not the kind of girl you will usually find raving about a cleaning product, it’s just a cleaning product right! No, not right… you couldn’t be more wrong if you tried. Honest, this stuff is my new best friend, it’s converted me into an advertisement, seriously whenever someone comes around mine, I find myself pouring water on the floor just to demonstrate its magic. I can’t stand having to deal with all them nasty accidents what with the kittens not taking to the litter and a toddler in potty training mode I’ve had to deal with my fair share this week alone. Whoops a-daisy makes it real easy. I love the fact there is no strong and overpowering odour. Little man is sensitive to certain smells and I can only use everyday cleaning products when his at school or sleeping , etc. In this respect We didn’t have any problems with the ‘Natural and Clean’ range. Basically you sprinkle some whoops a-daisy on any spillage wait a few minutes and the powder absorbs the spillage along with it’s odour, once fully absorbed you can hover or use a dustpan and brush to remove the power and it’s horrid contents that has now become some form of jelly. It’s fantastic for them emergency accidents like blood or red wine on white carpets. Honestly I’ll be buying more, its awesome the results are instant and amazing. Priced at £4.99 it’s simply a ‘Must Have’ bargain.

The Natural clean and clear essential travel clean up kit

The Essential Travel Clean-up kit is the ideal portable solution for accidental spillage’s when on the move, potty training or coping with your little one’s sick bug. Suitable for carpets, upholstery and hard surfaces, the travel kit is perfect for use in cars, buggies, caravans, boats or planes. The simple to use products contain and absorb the spillage and the clean-up process is completed with a deodoriser to remove any odour. £10.99

My thoughts… Excellent product, it contains a travel sized Whoops a-daisy some cardboard scrapers to remove any horrid accidents, some throw away silicon gloves, deodoriser, travel hand sterilising solution and a disposing bag. The only thing that I couldn’t get my head around was why the disposing bag was so huge? I dunno maybe others have a lot bigger accidents than us! However I think it would have been more useful to have maybe one or two smaller bags. All contents came in a handy carry zip case, and I kept mine under the pushchair. I used the emergency Whoops a-daisy when little Harley spilt his juice all over his trousers, the water was removed quickly leaving them a tad damp instead of soaked. Price £10.99

Natural & Clean spot remover wipes

Disposable Natural & Clean spot remover wipes makes removing spots and spills more convenient, eliminating the potential to over wet the carpet. The special cleaning formula leaves no sticky residue and dries to a powder, preventing re-soiling and ensuring carpets stay cleaner for longer. The safe to use Natural & Clean spot remover wipes are pH 5.5 and have a unique “active plant” formulation for gentle, effective cleaning of all spots and spills. They contain a naturally derived fragrance and are free from solvents and phosphates.

My thoughts… At first I really wasn’t sure about this as when I opened them they felt as if they had dried out, however once using them on the carpet I released that they are actually meant to be this way. The wipes don’t make the carpet overly wet and instead turn to a powdery substance that you can just vacuum over. Some wipes really do make a spillage so much worse, these didn’t. A really good product, though it has nothing on Whoops a-daisy (I really can’t see how anything will ever compare again). A good price at just £3.49

Natural & Clean Pet Shampoo

Natural & Clean Pet Shampoo is suitable for all Dogs, Puppies, Cats & Kittens. Its low irritation green formulation is kind to pets’ sensitive skin; leaving coats not just soft and clean, but smelling fresh.

My thoughts… My Kittens again would have non of it! I found myself chasing them around the house like a mad woman (they can get in the tiniest of spaces)! After a week or maybe two I gave up and passed this on to a much-needed best friend who has one very small dog and one very large dog (I know a weird combo). My lovely mate had promised to come and show off their shiny coats once she had used the shampoo. ‘Daisy’ the smaller of the two, even had her picture taken (honestly some pet portrait thing at one of the large chain pet stores) I’m really looking forward to having a peep, never seen a pet portrait before 🙂 Would she buy the product? Her answer was… Yes, she would! What a result!

Natural & Clean pet spot & odour eliminator

Natural & Clean pet spot & odour eliminator is a modern approach to odour removal. It is designed to attack and eliminate odours and they’re offending causes naturally. The product has been successfully manufactured through harnessing naturally occurring microbes which attack and degrade organic waste matter, thus eliminating odours and their primary sources.

My thoughts… Honest People this is the last one I know I get quite deep but trust me, you will thank me next time your puppy poops on the carpet and you have this in the cupboard! There isn’t much to say about this one, apart from yes, It works and works very well! It also smells fantastically  awesome (not too overpowering, to little mans delight) priced at £3.49 how can you complain? Another great product worth having.

I love the range, and found that it didn’t only tackle the tasks at hand but also was great to work with. I have really sensitive skin and the range didn’t cause me any irritation. Little man is also very sensitive, but this time its to the odour that some cleaning products let off, especially bleach (he really gets upset by it). Again we had no issues of this kind when using the Natural and Clean range… Bonus!

Yippydada the coolest changing bag around

9 Oct

Oh my goodness check this baby out!

What you see before you is no ordinary bag, Oh… No!

Would you believe it if I told you that this stunner of a bag, is actually a Yippydada Lynx baby changing bag?

 Well, it is!

I saw this changing bag on a fellow blog and fell head over heels in love with it and this was before I knew its intended use.

Now you may ask why I need one now Harley is 22 months (two short months off his 2nd Birthday) but in actual fact I have discovered I need one more than ever.

Harley is wearing pull ups, at times he wears his tiny little underpants so we require a change of clothes when out and about in case of accidents. His also still using a bottle as he always has a bottle of cows milk at lunchtime whether we are at home or not as well as one at bedtime and when he wakes. We also keep his trainer cup to hand with his fruit juice in (that or a couple of cartons of innocents) Then there’s all them other bits and pieces like wipes , etc.

Now I’ll be honest here, if you put your hand In my handbag there’s no promising you’re ever see it again, Its like the lost world in there! Seriously I carry so much stuff I’m surprised I don’t capsize.

It’s a total pain having to carry the changing bag as well as my own handbag, the changing bag we have isn’t a beautiful sight, more an eye sore. I’ve looked for one that can possibly manage all mine and Harley’s things so I don’t have to lob two bags around when we go out but haven’t had any lucky whatsoever.

Well, in till now of course.

This bag is so nice it doesn’t even resemble a changing bag, more like a bang on trend  handbag.

Delivery of my Lynx changing bag from Yippydada was next day I was shocked how quickly it arrived via Royal mail.

This bag was even nicer than it was in the images on their website. The animal print material that makes up most of the bag had a velvety texture to it and it’s really soft.

The edging, straps and sides of the bag are faux brown leather but real good quality.

The style is bang on trend and is guaranteed to turn heads and create a little bag envy. However despite its ultra sleekness it’s totally practical and of course being a changing bag it meets all the sort after requirements mums expect from a changing bag but with some added WOW.

You have two small pockets at the front of the bag (ideal place for them little bits you need to get at fast such a dummies etc). There is a zip pocket on the outer back of the bag which is nice and roomy. I’ve actually used this compartment to store my small purse as it feels relatively secure when the bag is over my shoulder and under my arm as the pocket is against my body making it harder to access by those with sticky fingers.

On opening the bag there was a few more pleasant surprises. First I discovered the matching leopard print potable changing mat that when unfolded is a great size to lay over the top of any public baby changing facilities (my pet hate, especially the dirty ones)!

I also uncovered a lovely matching bottle holder that will keep bottles at a desired temperature. I couldn’t leave home without one of these when all three of my children were newborns, they are a god send for busy mums on the go! However I’m also finding use for this, as mentioned Harley still likes an afternoon bottle of warm milk and will not give up till he gets one!

Next I found a waterproof zip pouch which I found great for storing anything wet, example… Harley wet underpants (yes, it’s early days). This would be great for storing sterile teats, dummies , etc., for the baby a little younger.

Lastly you get a long extendable strap that can be clipped onto the bag and then hung over the handles of your child’s pram/pushchair.

These guys have thought of everything!

The inside of the bag is a pink water proof material with lots of pockets to keep yours and your little ones, “Can’t leave home without essentials”. It’s extremely roomy and has an inside zip pocket that is reasonably deep, a great place to put your purse, mobile or even both. I would normally worry about placing my mobile in Harley’s changing bag just incase it gets wet somehow (maybe through contact with wet wipes or a leaky bottle even). You haven’t got that worry with this bag as its inside lining is totally water proof and the zip pocket keeps this from happening.

Visiting my mother yesterday my younger sister who is almost 18 flew at me demanding to know where I had got my beautiful bag! Her jaw needed scrapping off the floor when I announced it was a changing bag. She then stated she didn’t care who would know?

I then got asked by a fellow mum or two down at my daughters school, where I got my bag from. Again shock showed in their stunned faces when I told them the bags intended use.

This shock was short lived and replaced soon after with excitement and me handing over the website address.

It seems like Yippydada have really hit the nail on the head with this one!

If you think my Yippydada bag is lush check out the others on their site. There really is something for everyone.

The Lynx Yippydada Lynx changing bag is priced at £55. OK, this isn’t the cheapest changing bag on the market but it sure is the prettiest I’ve seen in like FOREVER!

Think about it! There are plenty of changing bags that are not half as nice as this one which cost the same and sometimes even more!

Anyhow like I said there is really no need to use a handbag alongside this changing bag. How much is a handbag these days?

Anyway, don’t panic because Yippydada have been kind enough to pass on an exclusive offer to my readers.

25% off any of the Yippydada range for a limited time only.

Just use this code Yippy25% when placing your order over at the Yippydada website.

So, what are you waiting for?

Go on take a peek or check these guys out on twitter & facebook
