Why Mummy, Why….?

31 May

I love a good meme and this is right up there with the great ones. The fabulous Chelseamamma has tagged me in the “Why???” meme which was started by Mummy Central.

Basically our children are always and forever asking “Why mummy why?” Example… “Mum, why do I have to go to bed?” or “Why does she get one and I don’t?” What about the all to familiar… “Why do I have to tidy my bedroom?” scenario!

In this Meme it’s us parents who get to ask… Why? So, without delay here is my questions to my three children! Can anyone relate?

Little man, why do I have to have a one way conversation about lego with you at 3am

Alice-Sara, why is it that you insist that the appropriate clothing that I’ve given you to wear isn’t appropriate and then suggest something which is far from appropriate at all?

20120531-203828.jpg

Harley, why do u have to use mummy as a human climbing frame

Little man, why do you feel that it’s OK to announce out loud that the slightly overweight checkout girl at our local supermarket, needs to go on a diet?

Alice-Sara, why do you sneak in my bedroom and steal my most expensive lipstick, only to sneak it back later minus the lid?

Harley, why do you feel it’s appropriate for you to scream when mummy switches the channel from CBeebies to BBC one when Doctors is on?

20120531-204737.jpg

Alice-Sara, why do you pull faces behind my back when I tell you off? Did you not believe me when I told you mummy has eyes in the back of her head?

20120531-212539.jpg

Harley, why do you insist on throwing yourself on the floor no matter where in the world we are, every time I say the word “NO”?

20120531-193906.jpg

Little man, why do you always have to ask inappropriate questions to the wrong people? some things don’t need saying! Stating to the elderly lady down the road that she has hairs on her chin plus a lot of wrinkles because she’s well old then asking her if she’s scared about dying soon, is really pushing it a little to far!

20120531-193545.jpg

Children, why do you think that just because mummy has a card she is able to take money from the hole in the wall when every you demand it?

Alice-Sara why do you always play dressing up with mummy’s most loved accessories without even asking?

Harley, why do you always do a number 2 as soon as I put you in a fresh pull-up? You do know that these “pull ups” do actually pull down right? I’m sure you also understand that this revolutionary technology has provide you with a way of giving the potty some poo-poo!

20120531-204003.jpg

Little man, why did you feel the need to tell me your teacher is younger than me?

Alice-Sara why do you always play the same sodding song over and over again? I don’t even like Leona’s “Bleeding in love” in-fact you’ve made sure of that!

20120531-193445.jpg

Harley, why do you even want to go pick the cat poo out the litter try, hold it up in the air and run around like a raving nut job, shouting, “Cat did it!”

20120531-203729.jpg

Little man, why are you still not after 11 whole years, got the simple concept that “Bedtime = Sleeping” not partying? Yes, there is plenty of time for that later!

Alice-Sara, why-oh-why do I even care if so and so’s mum up the road buys the latest monster high doll for her daughter? Doesn’t mean I’m buying it so stop protesting!

Harley, why did you dig out mummy’s best Mac eye shadow with your finger, smudge it all over the bed then insist the kitten done it!

20120531-194143.jpg

Children, why do you always insist on getting louder when I have a headache or worse, upping your demands when I’m sick?

Alice-Sara & Little man, why do you insist on kicking the crap out of each other every time I turn my back?

20120531-193753.jpg

Children, why do you always insist on getting yourselves into situations you can’t get out off without me having to save your backsides?

20120531-193648.jpg

Children, why do you always scream the word mummy or mum then point at me, while having a tantrum in public?

20120531-194044.jpg

Lastly… Why, do you all need something when mummy is busy!

20120531-204258.jpg

Yes… That was a joke… Dont call social services!

Now to tag some parents/bloggers to play the “Why?” game!

Orchard Toys Sponsors A Boy With Aspergers For BritMums Live 2012

16 Jan

Today I’m here to share some exciting news, A Boy with Aspergers has struck up a sponsorship with a fantastic brand, enabling me to attend the parent blogging conference of the year, BritMums Live 2012.

A few days after having post my initial request I was approached and offered a chance to team up with a brand that I feel really suits the blog.

So… who is it?

My sponsor for this years BritMums Live is the fabulous…

So… Why is the right sponsor for the blog?

Orchard Toys, are the leading manufacturer of educational puzzles, games and books for children between the ages of 18 months and 12 years. The brand which was founded in 1971 has a great reputation for its customer care and its toy production which aims to bring both fun & educational play to the lives of children everywhere! What’s more, Orchard Toys are interested in what interests all children, including those with special educational needs and it is therefore hoped that by sponsoring A boy with Aspergers we can help them find out!

Anyone who reads this blog will know I’m big on toys that promote educational play, there is nothing better than a toy that brings great enjoyment to a child’s day as it teaches them new and important skills along the way.
There are so many families with children on the autism spectrum, many with special educational needs, that visit this blog all looking for ideas and inspiration on what to buy a child with autism… as I’ve stated before, games and puzzles can be a great starting block, if the right products are chosen, such items can help not only improve a child’s academic performance, but social and life skills, such as independence skills, something that children with AS seem to acquire that bit later than the “typical” child. Orchard Toys have a great selection of toys that suit children of all needs and abilities and some could help improve some vital skills for the child on the autism spectrum.

I’m hoping that over time our feed back given while working with Orchard toys can be used in the most productive way. This brand creates new products from its own designs, then all products undergo extensive testing in homes, schools and nurseries across the UK! This is to make sure they are educational sound, aimed at the right age group and importantly fun to play with. I love how they are actively seeking out feedback from those with children who have additional needs to ensure their toys are fun for all.

When I spoke to the teams lovely head of PR, I really appreciated her genuine interest in my blog, children and of course Little man. At one point in the conversation, I stated how Little man has the problem, that he comes across as socially inappropriate when he tries to socialise with others! Lynda (head of PR) responded by stating that it shouldn’t be his problem, it’s the problem of society as they fail to understand him and they need to be better educated about autism. Right there and then I wondered if maybe she was the parent of a child like mine, the fact she wasn’t just blow me away even more, making me more keen to work with the brand! I only wish more people could be more like Lynda… Non judgemental with a genuine interest in those that are seen to be different.

I feel honoured, thrilled and fortunate that such a great brand with good values and ideas, have asked to be my sponsor and I look forward to working with them over the coming months.

As for BritMums Live… I just can’t wait 🙂 If you’re a parent, mummy blogger and your undecided if BritMums Live is right for you, I’d suggest checking out the site. There will be many awesome speakers on the day such as top bloggers, authors, photographers (even Cherry Healey, Ruby Wax and Sarah Brown form part of the awesome line up). There are workshops (plenty off them) aimed at both new and advanced bloggers. The two-day event will host an awards bash, provide time to mingle and get to know other bloggers (or maybe just meet up with one’s you know already) plus it’s your chance to meet with some great brands too.

Meme – My 2011 Highs and Lows

15 Jan

I was recently Tagged to complete this Meme, ‘My 2011 Highs & Lows by Kate on thin ice‘ by the lovely Romanian Mum, who is a lovely blogger that write a fantastic blog.

Not wanting to bail out and be a Meme bore, here’s my contribution that I hope you’ll all enjoy.

(1) What was your happiest event?

Watching my son in his school harvest festival assembly. He attends a special school and it’s been such a long time since his done anything of this kind as his mainstream school would never involve him in any plays or presentations. He did a reading but froze up, so all the other children came up and stood beside him and they all read the piece together, of course this made me cry proud and happy tears. Moments like these are totally priceless.

(2) What was the saddest thing that happened?

We lost my dad’s brother to cancer.

(3) What was the most unlikely thing to happen that actually went ahead and did?

I won most inspiring blogger at the Mad Blog Awards

(4) Who let you down?

I let myself down a number of times (we learn from our mistakes).

(5) Who supported you?

My friend Donna always supports me, also my mum.

(6) Tell us one thing you learned

Not to be so hard on myself and sometimes I’m my own worse enemy.

(7) Tell us one thing that made you laugh

Taking the P&O ferry with Romanian Mum and both trying to walk to the other side of the ship while feeling a tad sea sick, we looked like two drunk women, falling all over the place.

(8) Tell us one thing that made you cry

I cry a lot, I’m quite an emotional wreak at times. One occasion that comes to mind would be the time I lost my cool with Little man while at Butlins and I went running out the restaurant, where I then sat in the rain on a bench and uncontrollably sobbed.

(9) Tell us three things your child or children did to make you feel proud

I have three children so I’ll give you one for each!

Little man (aka A boy with Asperger’s) giving his last 50p from his pocket-money to a homeless person sat outside London Bridge Tube station.

Alice-Sara saving for charity (she has £12 so far) and started saving in December.

Harley my now 2-year-old, saying “I love you mummy”

(10) Tell us one thing that made you proud of yourself

 Winning my Mad blog award.

(11) Tell us one challenge you overcame

I over come a host of challenges every day, such as getting my son and myself through his public meltdowns in the middle of the supermarket.

(12) Tell us three things you would like to change about your life from 2011

Get fit, healthy and back in my size 8 jeans (I wasn’t that fit in 2011)!

Sleep better (which means trying to get Little man to do the same)!

To get stronger within myself, a lot stronger than I was in 2011!

Now… to tag some other fabulous bloggers to complete the Meme! Let’s just hope that somehow they haven’t been tagged already.

As an avid parenting blogger of 3 years, who is passionate about her blog, I like to attend the big name conferences in order to gain tips and inspiration on all aspects of blogging and the world of social media.

What with some fantastic top name bloggers all set to attend and some high-profile speakers, such as Sarah brown and Ruby wax its the ideal time to connect with bloggers.

So… If you’re a brand looking for a way to get noticed, sponsoring an influential, well established blogger who knows how to network could be the way forward.

Having been sponsored to attend events such as Cybermummy 2011 (sponsor, Londontown.com) and the Mad blog awards 2011 (sponsor, OptiBac Probiotic’s) which I was chuffed to have won the Mad blog awards most inspiring blogger of 2011, I can promise that your brand would be very well represented.

A Christmas party- Mummy blogger style

17 Dec

8

DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS

Well, it’s a whole week since the Tots100 Christmas party at Butlin’s (where does the time go)? So… I thought it was about time I shared with you all the positives of our family trip, my overall thoughts on the Butlin’s resort located in West Sussex’s Bognor Regis, plus fill you in on all the gossip from the Tots100 Christmas meal & afternoons festive activities.

Some of you may have read my last post which mainly focused on my sons difficulties in his inability to adapt to the new surroundings, he was therefore unable to settle during the break and as a result he became quite challenging. It didn’t seem right, nor fair to write about my overall experience at Butlin’s or my thoughts and documentation on the Tots100 Christmas party! Basically that was a real negative post and to mix the two just wouldn’t have worked, nonetheless I had to write it, clear my head, move on and hopefully  learn from it!

On a lighter note, we were incredibly lucky to be given the chance to go to Butlin’s especially during such a festive period! It was the Christmas fantasy weekend and as a result there was a great deal going on. As the Tots100 party was being held at the Butlin’s resort, attendees were given an awesome deal on a weekend stay in one of its two lovely hotels, and what’s more the family could come along too (something I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to afford to do at this expensive time of year).

We got booked to stay at the Ocean hotel which has beautiful views over looking the sea front. Now I have been to the Bognor resort before but this was some years back and the first hotel was just in the process of being built. It had changed somewhat and seemed that bit classier (if you know what I mean).

I don’t know what I expected in terms of the hotel, what with it being part of the resort as I’ve only every stayed in the apartments on pervious visits. We didn’t arrive on the resort till gone 11pm Friday night, as we approached the entrance to the hotel, my somewhat whining tired children suddenly become wide eyed and excited. Harley absolutely loved the Snowmen that line the walkway into the hotel and spent most of the weekend saying, “Look Snowman” every time we passed them.

The Ocean was fabulous what with its Disco lifts and magical lighting… Yes, you may think it sounds a little tacky but it really wasn’t, it was far from it in fact! The Ocean really did have all the makings of a top hotel that catered for both Children and adults, what with it’s beautiful spa and restaurant, you could even hire games and DVDs from reception. Little man did love the lighting in the room, it was really calming and would actually be great in any sensory room. As you lay in the bath the lights above the bath would slowly change from one colour to the next, one minute you were bathing in a heavenly red tub, then the next you were soaking in a blue lagoon. Little man was so drawn by this feature that for once he was the first person in the tub (seriously I normally have to carry him and force him in the bath kicking and screaming, so this was a welcomed change). We also had the same mood lighting above the bed which looked extremely impressive.

There was loads to do, so much I only wished we had more time (well if the Little man wasn’t so challenging that is)! Sadly we didn’t get to go swimming and this did result in a few tears. Little man had in fact forgotten his trunks but a trip into town via a little train that ran along the sea front fixed that problem (the town is just a 10 minute walk from resort if you don’t fancy the little train) sadly by the time we arrived at the swimming baths known as ‘Splash Waterworld’ It was closing, I must admit I did expect it stay open a little later then it did.

There was still lots more to do and discover, Harley even enjoyed his second birthday on site with friends such as Barney and Baby Bop, Fireman Sam, Pingu and his all time favourite ‘Bob the builder’ Yes, it was a little tots idea of paradise.

The fact it was Christmas fantasy weekend made it all the more special! Children could meet Santa in his magical wonderland, get up close to real reindeers, have their pictures taken in an oversized snow globe and meet Bojorn the huge white mechanical Polar Bear.

There were shows throughout the day right through till the end of the evening. By day tiny tots could enjoy the puppet shows in the skyline and families could watch Panto together at centre stage. In the evening we enjoyed tribute acts such as Lady Gaga who was so good Little man couldn’t get over the fact it wasn’t actually her and all the children seemed to enjoy the Abba sing along and once it that was all over Little man and his sister had fun making the odd request to the DJ and getting her to wish their baby brother a very happy 2nd Birthday, which I thought was really sweet. If that was enough Centre Stage also has a pretty funky show shop where you can buy everything from bubble blasting guns, flashing necklaces, funky coloured wigs, fairy wings and glow bracelets (just checkout the photos below, as you can see my daughter was really feeling the dressing up vibe).

Saturday was the day of the Tots100 Christmas party, it was broken down into two sessions, which worked well for me because of the children. First you had a festive afternoon of mince pies, mulled wine and some fun festive activities and later in the evening it was drinks at a cocktail bar before heading of to Butlin’s newest restaurant Tuner’s a more finer dinning option.

The Christmas party was a bloggers only occasion which meant no Little one’s (Thank goodness, as I can’t imagine what my fellow bloggers would have made of the Little man’s mood). First it was planned that their father would accompany us to Butlins but he feel ill which meant I got to invite my very Lovely friend Donna to join us, who thankfully being such a close friend has experienced one or two of Little man’s worse meltdowns to date. Regardless, I was still worried that while gone they may somehow go to far maybe leave her hanging upside down from a Christmas tree or something!

Of course I was a tad late for the afternoon’s fun, Little man was practically hanging from my ankles begging me not to go and in no uncertain terms telling me how selfish I was for leaving, while Harley was so over tired he was throwing his own wobbler. Alice-Sara, my daughter however seemed quite relaxed in terms of she didn’t bat an eye lid as I left, just sat chilling in the kids den watching some children’s television show. Once there I was greeted by the lovely Sally Whittle writer of ‘Who’s the mummy‘ and the lovely lady behind the Mad blog awards, had planed the whole thing for us load of mummy bloggers. Sally is a woman who I owe a lot of thank you’s to, she really does some pretty special stuff and along with the Mad blog awards has now given me two great memories to grow old with.

Once inside I joined a team who had just started decorating a christmas tree, the challenge… to use your imagination and create a spectacularly decorated tree with the use of shop brought decorations alongside craft materials which would require us to think outside the box. Competing against four other teams we had just one hour and I’m pleased to say we won 🙂 even if the shoe blogger did pinch wrapped gifts from around another teams tree, to which Karen from all about the boys gave us all a good telling off for:)

Before the evenings dinner it was back to the hotel for a few hours (in which I was pleased to discovered my friend was thankful still alive) before getting changed in to something a little more glam and heading back out again, while my friend took the children to see a show.

I first joined my fellow bloggers for one or two cocktails that I must add where scummy, then it was off to Tuners to eat. There were 36 of us in all, 35 mummy bloggers and one daddy blogger all taking up too long rows of tables, I got to sit with Lou from bloggomy who I got to meet for the first time at the Mad blog awards and it was lovely to catch up over a glass of white and a festive feast.

Tuners opened it’s doors in 2011 and is named after the famous chef Brain tuner who helped create the restaurant which is advertised as affordable fine dinning. The restaurant boast some top chefs such as Nigel Davis (formerly of the ivy) cooking its six course Christmas dinner.

I really did have an enjoyable evening though I really did feel a little sad at not being able to join some of the bloggers such as the lovely Romanian mum, who went on for drinks and dancing after the meal! Sadly with my children, I really did need to get back and save my friend from any meltdowns or sibling punch ups.

All in all despite my stress and parenting dilemmas while at Butlin’s, I really am pleased I went and will definitely be going again…. Someday!

This ones for you Little man

3 Oct

There was lip gloss, cleavage and killer heels. Fancy frocks, satin bags and the odd freshly pressed suit! Soho didn’t know what hit it when the mummy bloggers and one or two daddy bloggers, came to town!

The occasion? Why, the Mad blog awards of course!

The theme was “GLAM” and Glam it was! There was some serious hot dresses on display with shoes you longed to adopt and take home as your own.

I spent much of Friday afternoon in the salon, where my long locks were chopped and replaced with a shorter but nicer restyle.

Then It was a mad dash to the beautiful Radisson  Edwardian Kenilworth hotel in London’s west end. It was here, I got ready for the long-awaited big night ahead. Jeans and a tee were swapped  for a floor sweeping, black satin grown, black stilettos and sparkly, shimmering makeup. With a generous spray of Jean Paul Gaultier & little black clutch in hand, I was all set!

On arrival at the Talk Talk experience centre Soho, I was greeted by a photographer who took a couple of full length pictures before allowing me to scramble off reaching for a glass of white. It was clear on arrival that Sally and the sponsors had gone all out to create an amazing event for us bloggers.

I met some awesome bloggers, one’s I had met before but overjoyed to meet again, others I knew from online and had wanted to meet for ages and some I was yet to discover. The atmosphere was electric, and as the wine bottles emptied the laughter grew stronger. With each award came a spectrum of reactions and emotions. There were tears, laughter, gasps & roars of applause.

When the little gold envelope was opened and I heard the words “A boy with Aspergers” my  tummy became a flutter of butterflies and my eyes watered every so very slightly. Yes, stood there with my little glass award in one hand, a microphone in the other, all I could say was

“OMG I’VE WON”

which was followed by a muttered ,

“I don’t know what to say but thank you”

Yes, the word “Thank You” was repeated several times before I scooted off.

Louise (@bobbity666) left, Me & my lovely award centre, Jenny (@Edspire)

No, of course I hadn’t  prepared a speech, that meant I had considered myself a winner. I didn’t even want to think along that line, So with no speech I stood like a donut . There was so many things I wanted to say, they were buried in my head unable to flow out. Nonetheless I would like to think there’s a way to make up for my lack of spoken words by doing what I do best…. Sharing my thoughts and emotions through my writing!

So, without further delay, here’s what I should have said on collection of my award for the Most inspiring blogger!

Huge thank you to all that nominated and voted for me to win, those in cyberspace as well as my lovely family and friends You lot are truly amazing, please go about your day today knowing you made this mum and blogger smile a massive smile.

Sally Whittle (@swhittle) I just can’t thank you enough! Not just for Friday night but the whole experience, it’s just been amazing for me! From the day I discovered I was nominated to the night I collected my winning award I’ve just had such a ball. Yourself with the help of Jen, Parentdish, Talk-Talk and all the other Mad sponsors, made me and so many others feel really special, thank you to you all for making this brilliant event possible.

The lovely Sally Whittle who made it all happen.

Special thanks to Mothercare, the sponsor of my winning category, “Most Inspiring blogger”

Sending a big thank you to TK Maxx, Helen (@HelenGunter) & Polly (@p_hibb) for the beautiful dress, shoes and accessories that were perfect for me and helped me to feel comfortable and confident on the night!

Thanks to my fellow finalist, who helped create an amazing reading list, I’ve uncovered so many great blogs to read. An extra special thank you to the finalist in my category “Most Inspiring” who have all been so lovely to me, your all incredible  and I will continue to read you’re inspiring blogs.

Kylie (@kykaree) it was lovely to see you again, you looked ravishing.

Massive Thank you to my personal sponsor OptiBac Probiotics, ( who have not only given me support and encouragement but introduced my family to their fantastic products that have been of great benefit to all, but exceptional for my son who has Asperger’s syndrome. lastly thank you OptiBac for covering my hotel expenses at the fabulous Radisson Edwardian hotel, avoiding a half cut merry mum, night busing it through London (don’t think the children would have appreciated waking to a half-drunken mum on the sofa) so thank you.

An added thank you to Soyraya who is part of the OptiBac team and is just the loveliest person you can ever wish to work with when working with a brand.

Lastly ( Yes, I know! Bet you’re glad I was speechless on the night, anyone would thing I’d won an Oscar) nonetheless I have to thank my three beautiful Children, especially Little Man (aka A boy with aspergers) for giving me the inspiration to write and share our story, the highs and the heartbreaking lows that have brought us to where we are now (a much better place).

Little Man (aka A boy with Aspergers)

“This Little man, this one’s for you! Happy 11th Birthday!”

As for the “Blogger of the year” I didn’t win this, So don’t panic, I’m not about to reel of any more speeches,  though I would like to congratulate Anna Ranson (@imaginationTree) who was crowned the Mad blogger of the year for her fabulous blog, “The Imagination Tree”

 Well, done

(No hard feelings, that is unless I see you walking the streets alone 🙂 Don’t panic, It’s just a joke)

I was also super pleased for Lisa (@MummyWhisperer) and Ruth, (@geekmummy) not only where they dressed by TK Maxx meaning I got to meet them during the run up to the awards, they are also fellow winners.

Lisa (Mummy Whisper) Sally Whittle

Ruth (Geek Mummy) collecting her award.

Huge Congratulations girls.

A highlight to this already wonderful evening was  meeting the lovely Karen (@allaboutheboys). Gosh, Karen had the most stunning shoes, she has taste that’s for sure! Also the lovely Jenny (better known on twitter as @edspire) a real gem with great dress sense. These are two ladies who are genuinely really lovely both on and off-line!

There are many others I had the pleasure to chat with, far to many to name.

The rest of the night went by in a haze of excitement and alcohol, after an eventful taxi ride back to the hotel (long story) and a quick change of clothes I headed to a local bar in Covent Garden with these awesome lot, @SuperAmazingMum who was live blogging  (We finally met 3rd time lucky), @michelletwinmum (who had the best eye makeup by far), @seasiderclare (really sweet and friendly),@alforalenyna (who made me laugh so much I almost passed urine) and last but not least @bobbity666 who with Jenny I spent most the evening with and would love to meet again.

Michelle (@michelletwinmum), Clare (@seasiderclare)  (@alforalenyna)

Michelle, Louise (bobbity666)

The very lovely Super amazing mum (Live blogger) we finally meet &  so worth the wait

We had a lush few bottles of wine that we all sat and drunk into the small hours of Saturday morning, before heading for some over priced but yummy fast food (in an alcohol intoxicated kind of way) before walking back to the hotel and parting.

As I lay on my massive double bed with luxurious velvet throw I drifted of to sleep dreaming about the full English that would greet me in a few hours time, only that didn’t go to plan!

Waking up with a maid looking over me at 11.35 am was so not the plan!

“Oh no you sleep to late, you must check out”

For a moment I stared at her

“Who the hell are you and where the f*** am I?”

Was what first thought that came to mind, before  it hit me! I suddenly found myself doing things in fast forward (Benny Hill style) jumping up throwing belongings into bags, cat licking instead of showering and getting out of there looking rough, slightly hung over and gutted about my breakie, yet excited about seeing the kids and giving a (Not so little Man) a Happy birthday kiss.

So, there it is! I mingled, drank, scared a maid with my sticking up Barnet and panda eyes and WON myself a Mad blog

Not bad for one night ha?

PRINCESS IN HEELS

24 Sep

As a little girl, I daydreamed about being a princess, as I grew up that daydream continued.

Well, who would have thought that writing a blog (That when first started up, mainly consisted with lots of rants) would transform me into just that, a princess?

Yes, seriously for one day and night Cinders will be transformed and then sent of to the ball! The ball of course being the Mad blog awards, and the transformation… well, that started to take shape a few days back!

Yes, I was just one of a handful of lovely ladies, who happen to be finalist, like me, who were whisked off to TK Maxx High street Kensington, London for some serious dress shopping. (Well, “whisked” would be a bit of an exaggeration given I was 45 minutes late and arrived by train).

Once in the TK Maxx store, I was bombarded with a mass of stunning dresses (not, that I was complaining of course). I then had the difficult task of choosing one, an important task considering it’s for my first ever awards ceremony! How grateful I was to have the lovely Polly (TK Maxx PR) and the awesome Sally (the founder and organiser of the Mads) plus a few of my lovely fellow finalist, at hand to help me make this important decision!

Then I had the most fantastic time trying on shoes! OMG, I’m shoe crazy! This really was princess heaven handed on a platter.

Shoes in every colour and style I could find, touched my feet. Decisions, decisions… lots of decisions! I even got to top it all of by adding a pretty little clutch bag and a shrug to complete my outfit… Lush!

TK Maxx and Sally had created the perfect treat. There was no looking at the children’s section, no choosing baby or toddler items, it was all about us and making us feel special. TK Maxx were kindly supplying us with the dresses and accessories curtsy of the store, which was just mind blowing! Not only did this take the whole stress and of course expense, out of shopping for the perfect dress, it also gave me an opportunity to meet a few of the other bloggers, meaning that on the big night I wouldn’t be stood like a plum in a dress.

This was made so much easier as the lovely people of TK Maxx took us all for a lovely meal with deserts to die for (I know, I know, I have a dress to fit into) but who could resist? (In actual fact… None of us could!)

There was lots of chatting and getting to know each other, I spoke in length to the fabulous Lisa aka @mummywhisperer, who really does inspire you to sparkle. Her adorable daughter and nanny joined us for lunch too. I also got to meet Kylie @Kykaree (Not even a bag of sugar) and her beautiful little boy who was born at 27 weeks gestation but is really thriving! (Kylie is, like me, a finalist in the “Most inspiring” category.) Maria aka @verybusymama, was great fun, loving her super fast no carbs diet tips which she unfortunately shared after the pudding 🙂 Ruth aka @geekmummy was lovely so friendly as was Monika aka @mumontheblink! Then of course, I finally got to meet Sally aka @swhittle founder/organiser of the Mads and Polly (TK Maxx PR) both were really nice and very encouraging when trying on dresses, keeping us all smiling (leaving no time for any girlie body hang ups.)

I loved the fact everyone had read each others blogs. This meant good conversation as we had plenty of topics to discuss. Autism, mummy coaching and premature birth being a few. I learnt lots about blog camp Brighton, which I’m now really excited about and have been pre warned not to tweet and ask what your all wearing for the event (Yes that’s right It’s informal ladies and gents) So, I wont be turning up in my stunning new dress then (which will be revealed next Friday) !

So, in till then, I will exercise like a nut job on pro-plus, watch my easily expanding waistline as to avoid bursting out the seams of my figure hugging dress, get myself a hair cut, get my nails done and then just go with the flow.

Message for all the lovely bloggers who were part of the TK Maxx shopping experience… you all looked gorgeous and I can’t wait to walk in my new heels beside you all.

Also why not visit my fab Sponsor, ‘ OptiBac probiotics’ over on facebook and say hello.

Scooting is much more fun with Scooterearz

22 Sep

I love writing a blog, not only is it a way to help me relax, reach out, raise awareness, share and vent, it also brings me some awesome opportunities, testing some of the latest products to hit the market.

Scooterearz, is one of them awesome products,

and here’s why!

If your child has a scooter, then you will relate when I say, “Kids like to take them everywhere” (Well, mine do). This is fine, I’m a mum who’s cool with that, after all it’s a great way for your children to stay fit and active.

However, when them summer days are turning cold, things are not so simple. Little man loves using his scooter, yet in the winter I’ve discovered that I’m the one dragging the scooter up the road because his decided his hands are much to cold to have out of his pockets. Yes, there are gloves, but this makes it harder to get a firm comfortable grip on the handle bars, therefore giving less control over the scooter. (which isn’t great with Little man’s motor skills) Little man also has sensory sensitivities (especially tactile) so he can’t seem to tolerate gloves for to long, preferring the fingerless type which isn’t ideal when out on your scooter.

That’s why I was interested in finding out more about this new product, ‘Scooterearz’.

 Here’s what the founders say…

Founded: October 2010

About: A brand new product designed to keep those little fingers warm in those cooler months.

Description: Scooterearz is a universal weatherproof hand warmer to be used specifically on children’s push along scooters. They stay attached to the scooter handlebars (although can be transferred easily ) and keep children’s hands snuggly warm.

Our Scooterearz came is a nice clear sturdy bag that can be used to keep and store your hand warmers in! We were sent the Dark blue Scooterearz with the red outer thread. There are a number of other colours you can choose from therefore offering something suitable for both girls & boys.

Little man was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to review the new Maxi micro scooter a few months back, so the scooterearz makes the perfect accessory while keeping the little guys fingers all lovely a cosy.

It was pretty hard to fully appreciate the product for its true potential given the weather was still pretty nice when they arrived! Then suddenly yesterday I noticed how cool the evenings had become! At around 8pm I decided to take Little man out on his scooter to burn of some energy to enable him to settle and therefore sleep once home (Yes, little man has problems with his sleeping so getting him to burn of some excess energy is a good idea).

At home on my Mac, already sat a review on the Scooterearz, yet I felt it deserved so much better, a real good  testing in the appropriate conditions and weather!

Little man instantly took to the hand warmer, despite the fact it is waterproof  (the waterproof material normally drives him up and around the bend) but Scooterearz has a cosy fluffy lining, removing that tactile experience for the little man.

Little man reported how his hands were nice and warm, the material was nice and cosy and he was still able to have a firm grip, maintaining full control of his scooter.

My daughter also had a go on her scooter (not a micro scooter, one she’s actually had a few years and due an upgrade) despite his fact the scooterearz still fitted to the handlebars of her scooter without any issues at all.

What I do love about the product is the fact that once the Scooterearz are attached to the handlebars (one on each side) they can remain there, but can be easily removed if & when desired.

We even tried it one the handlebars of little man’s bike which provided the same comfort.

We really like Scooterearz and feel it’s an awesome new product at a really reasonable price of just £12.99 RRP.

The full product launch is set for autumn, though you can already buy Scooterearz from a selected number of online stores or direct form scooterearz themselves, Right NOW.
